Sacramento family redefines generosity in the face of childhood cancer

Seven-and-a-half year old Vinny spent the last two years growing out his hair so he could donate his tresses to make wigs for kids with cancer.  Along the way, he was often mistaken for a girl or teased, but it didn’t deter him from his mission of helping a child in need. What a giving and tender second-grade soul.

Now, little Vinny is the child in need. He recently developed a swollen eye and a lump on his hip, which landed him in the emergency room. Testing revealed every parent’s worst nightmare: an aggressive form of cancer.

In spite of the darkness that accompanies severe illness, it’s still possible to see where Vinny gets his luminous and generous spirit.  Vinny’s grandparents launched a GoFundMe campaign to help with the medical costs that are piling up.

But in an unheard of act of generosity, his parents suspended Vinny’s GoFundMe campaign and are asking supporters to donate instead to support other Sacramento children who are fighting cancer.  You’ll find these fighters’ campaigns listed on Vinny’s page.

Please hold Vinny and the Sacramento kids with cancer in your hearts. And if you check out Vinny’s page and are moved to support another Sacramento child, well, just tell them Vinny sent you.
